It’s called memory loss. You try remembering your past after your gray matter has been splattered all over the ground. We’re being shown some memories are starting to resurface now though.

The fact that, literally, anything is left is beyond sheer luck. Especially as Daniel was, likely, instructed to wipe Aden’s memories during the brain reconstruction surgery(and clearly didn’t go all the way through with it).
