Not exactly, the only thing that matters is size, everything else is pure physics. It gains velocity due gravitational pull, all it requires is significant nudge towards gravity well. And shape won’t matter if the rock with the size of a small planetoid hits the surface with planet cracking devastation effect no matter on what shape it is.
