As long as the story doesn’t end with a cliffhanger (forever, not just for short time due to a new story part), it’s ok (for me) 😀
I like the details and that you added the doc as a caring scientist.
You could post ten pages a day and I’d still be clamoring for more. It’s an engaging story. I think you’ve paced this part just fine. Leaving us excited to find out what happens next is a feature, not a bug.
