They’ve definitely done some damage to her psyche with that machine. And itvery likely that Berit is going to make that damage so much worse within the next few pages.
Unless whatever Daniel is planning to do to help Alpha/Aden and Ivory happens before Berit has time to do any more damage to poor Laura.
Certainly doesn’t seem like the programing is playing nice with her mind. Though I would imagine time and how a xeno is treated in life by humans will have gradual effects on a programmed xeno will have in the future. I also could imagine not being a blank slate like the intended future xenes that are planned to be made also would cause problems. Laura is going to be a mess after this is all done. Almost seems like they might have accidentally given Laura a split personality with that machine they had her hooked up to.
Could make programming her harder if there’s two minds now instead of one. Especially for Berit if the human Laura personality is the dominant one at present(possibly best case scenario for Laura at this point).
I actually think the programing is trying to make her see herself in a specific way. So actions taking that would be considered less human will clash with this constructed image of herself.
Which I imagine is harder with her having an entire period with her father to establish one already.
The conditioning process enhances her own fears and perceptions, making her own fears to be confused with real memories.
everything she saw in the nightmare aren’t «memories» of the real Laura, but her own fear and perceptions turned against her (Laura knows she isn’t human, but she wishes she was)
