Technically would be cheaper in the long run. If they create a whole slew of them to become self sufficient, they’re no longer spending the limited resources for electronics, as much high-end weaponry, and so on, and instead have access to nearly free infantry and whatnot. Just as long as they stay under control.
part of the reson behind using Xenos is that technically their material being organic is easier to recycle (and you’re right about saving limited resources)… also C.Wally isn’t seeking total control just over xenos with this, so there’s a more serious implications with the machine protocols.
Xenos were just an excuse, guinea pig in his play.
in any case, for the Consortium the usefulness of xenos never stop being discussed, some still think they’re not reliable as keep developing robots.
but we all know why we’re here, to watch xeno experiments.
when I was begining to remake the story, I also wondered if I should turn xenos into a more replicant-type of thing, so you pretend they’re robots even if they look entirely organic. but I thought it was worse keeping them as living sentient beings and not «true» artificial intelligences. part of what makes xenos resilient is the fact they’re alive and have will on their own, despite how much humans try to remove that
Well, yeah. His original plan was to just let the fight with the rebels kill off Aden and Laura so he didn’t have to deal with a project he wasn’t interested in. He’s keeping the xenos around now because they’re useful to him, and something tells me it’s not because he suddenly became convinced that furry super-soldiers are a better strategic choice than custom-built, programmable war machines.
