I worry her feeling unwanted is going to make her act irrationally.
Hopefully Aden and Ivory can have a happy reunion too, instead of more pain and suffering for everyone.
One possitive: Aden isn’t in a cage this time, nor is he a child. He’s much more capable of protecting those he cares about this time around. Consortium is, hopefully going to learn “Fuck around and find out.” soon from Aden.
She might not be in much shape to do anything about it but at least Berit has developed some sliver of a conscience. Actual regret for her treatment of the Xenos (or at least Laura)? That would never have crossed her mind a few chapters ago when she broke the news to Daniel that he was fired. Maybe she’ll turn up as an ally later, maybe not, but even just removing herself as an obstacle is substantially kinder than most Consortium folks are to Aden and his friends.
